Our museum

The Museum of Bamoun Kings of Foumban

Grandly inaugurated, the Museum of Bamoun Kings is a world-class architectural masterpiece. The building itself physicalizes the sacred emblems of the kingdom: a two-headed snake majestically wrapped around the structure, topped by a giant spider, the symbol of hard work and collective wisdom. Inside, the museum houses a priceless collection of over 12,500 historical artifacts accumulated across more than seven centuries of the dynasty. Visitors can marvel at carved royal thrones, sacred court regalia, beaded royal garments, giant traditional pipes, historic weapons, and the precious original manuscripts of the Shü-mom script invented by King Njoya. It stands as the beating heart of the memory and artistic identity of the Bamoun people.
