Our museum
Our history and interpretation spaces
Established in 2011 through a decentralized cooperation partnership between the Municipality of Dschang and the City of Nantes in France, the Dschang Museum of Civilizations stands today as the cultural focal point of the West Region of Cameroon. Its monumental 1,200 m² architecture, inspired by traditional chiefdoms and totemic symbols of the Grassfields, is a visual masterpiece majestically set on the shores of the Municipal Lake.
Our institution is dedicated to serving as a living memorial bridge between generations. Through our galleries, we offer a comprehensive historical journey starting from prehistoric times, passing through the dark eras of the slave trade and colonization, up to the vibrant celebration of contemporary arts. The museum is proud to house priceless treasures, from royal masks to dynastic thrones, while operating a nautical base and a Pan-African library open to all.
