Period 1 of 3

The establishment of the kingdom by King Kemajou I

The Bazou kingdom was founded around the 17th century by the pioneer King (Fong) Kemajou I. Settling on the mountainous and fertile foothills of the Ndé Division, the community structured itself around values of strength, sovereignty, and nobility, adopting the traditional name "Zo'o" (literally translating to "the Elephant"). This name expresses the collective power and stature of the kingdom within the Grassfields. The dynasty quickly consolidated thanks to a united and strategic customary governance.

Our museum

The Museum of Art and Traditions of the Bazou Superior Chiefdom
