1600 - 1700
The reign of the founder Temekouo
Arriving from the Mbos plain, the founding chief TEMEKOUO (or TEMGOUA) built the Foto kingdom through strategy and force. He unified the territory, structured traditional institutions, and established the Council of Nine notables (M'Kamvu) which still oversees the people's destiny today.

FOTO Chiefdom Museum Project
Developed in partnership with the Route des Chefferies, our museum space houses a priceless collection of sacred relics and traditional objects. It offers a unique journey to understand the history of the Foto people, from its founder Temekouo to the present day.
