1645 - 1685
The reign of the founder Djatchoua
Le royaume est créé vers 1645 par le chef fondateur DJATCHOUA. Fuyant les conflits, son peuple s'installe sur ce territoire en évincant par la ruse le chef local Njofa. Ils baptisent le village « Mfat », ce qui signifie littéralement « Frère », une appellation qui sera plus tard transformée en « Bafang » par l'administration coloniale.
